USAID|TIBA experts facilitated a discussion of the Draft Concept on Introduction of Zoning Principles in Ukraine with experts from the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction and State Committee for Land Resources of Ukraine with the aim of finalizing the Draft Concept. Once it is adopted, the Draft Concept will introduce systematic and consistent policies and procedures to ensure that construction and related permits are issued in an open, transparent, and responsible manner, which will help reduce corruption in this sphere and decrease time and monetary expenditures associated with obtaining construction permits.

USAID|TIBA delivered a seminar to the Ministry of Economy aimed at discussion of concepts and rules of the WTO Agreement on Implementation of Article VI of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade 1994 (Anti-Dumping Agreement), experiences in implementation, and cases of disputes and settlements thereof.

USAID|TIBA delivered a seminar to the Ministry of Economy aimed at discussion of the framework and organizational structure of the WTO Dispute Settlement Body, decision-making processes, and recent cases of disputes and settlements thereof.

November 18, 2008 · Seminar "Technical Regulation: WTO Requirements and Problems of Harmonization of Ukrainian Legislation with International Standards"

USAID|TIBA delivered a seminar for technical regulation specialists of the State Committee for Technical Regulation and Consumer Policy (Derzhspozhivstandart) and Ministry of Economy of Ukraine that covered, inter alia, recognition of conformity assessments, notifications, enquiries, and international/other countries’ TBT regulations, and adoption of technical regulations.

November 13, 2008 · Session for officials of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction of Ukraine and State Architectural and Building Inspectorate

USAID|TIBA and its counterpart, the Akademiya Analytical Center, participated in a session of the Ministry of Regional Development and Construction led by the Minister. During the session, officials and construction enterprise representatives were trained on new procedures for conducting inspections in the sphere of construction to be implemented after adoption of Draft Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine "On Procedures for Conduction of Inspections by Officers of the State Architectural and Building Inspectorate and Regional Departments Thereof." A total of 80 State Architectural and Building Inspectorate officials (including those from regional departments), Ministry of Regional Development and Construction officials, and private sector representatives participated in the session. When adopted, the new procedure will reduce the administrative burden of inspections on business, reduce the opportunities for corruption, and encourage business development and foster economic growth.
