September 9, 2008 · Meeting of a working group on quick deregulation at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Ukraine

USAID|TIBA participated in a meeting of a working group established in order to implement the second phase of quick deregulation in the sphere of tourism. The working group completed a review and analysis of a total of 14 national-level legislative acts regulating entrepreneurial activity in the sphere of tourism. As a result of the meeting, the working group approved proposals to amend 6 regulations identified as creating obstacles for businesses. Within 20 days after completion of the review, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism must prepare corresponding draft legislation aimed at amending these regulations and make the drafts available for public discussion through the Ministry's Web site and/or mass media sources. After amending regulations cited by the working group as creating obstacles for businesses, regulatory barriers in the sphere of tourism will be removed, which will in turn contribute to business development in Ukraine.

USAID|TIBA participated in a meeting of a working group established in order to implement the second phase of quick deregulation in the sphere of land use. The working group completed a review and analysis of a total of 66 national-level legislative acts regulating entrepreneurial activity in the sphere of land use. As a result of the meeting, the working group approved proposals to amend or repeal 8 regulations identified as creating obstacles for businesses. Within 20 days after completion of the review, the State Committee for Land Resources must prepare corresponding draft legislation aimed at amending or repealing these regulations and make the drafts available for public discussion through the Committee's Web site and/or mass media sources. After amending and repealing regulations cited by the working group as creating obstacles for businesses, regulatory barriers in the sphere of land use will be removed, which will in turn contribute to business development in Ukraine.

July 31, 2008 · Training on the Methodology for Conducting the Second Phase of Quick Deregulation for the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry for Regional Development and Construction , and State Committee for Land Resources of Ukraine

USAID|TIBA and the State Committee of Ukraine for Regulatory Policy and Entrepreneurship organized a training for experts of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry for Regional Development and Construction, and State Committee for Land Resources with the aim of building their capacity to conduct a review of regulatory acts related to the spheres of tourism, construction, and land use. As a result of the review, regulatory acts that create barriers for business development in the aforementioned spheres will be identified and proposals for amending or repealing them will be prepared. During the training, USAID|TIBA ensured that participants obtained the necessary knowledge and skills for conducting the review, analysis, and other relevant activities as required by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 824-p "On Measures to Implement a Review of Regulatory Acts in the Sphere of Land Use, Construction, and Tourism."
